Temptation Is Coming. Are You Ready?
Temptation rarely gives any warning. In this Wednesday night study, Steve Rogers walks through Matthew 4:1–11, where Jesus is led by the Spirit into the wilderness and tempted by the devil. He opens with the reminder that the enemy doesn't need to take us out in one shot. He only needs us to crack the door open. The study follows three movements: preparation, temptation, and victory. Before the wilderness, Jesus was praying at His baptism, and He fasted forty days and forty nights before the tempter came. Satan attacked His hunger, questioned His sonship, twisted Scripture, and offered Him the kingdoms of the world without the cross. Each time, Jesus answered with the Word of God: "It is written." The call is practical and urgent. Temptation comes when we're tired, angry, lonely, or afraid, and the devil knows exactly where we're weak. We don't wait for the battle to open our Bibles or fall to our knees. Steve calls the church to prepare now through prayer, fasting, and deliberate time in Scripture, relying on God's strength rather than our own and resting in the One who was victorious in the wilderness and on the cross.
