God’s Faithfulness When We Fail – The Davidic Covenant & Jesus
In this continuation of our study through the life of David, we return to 2 Samuel 7 and explore the Davidic Covenant—a promise that begins with David but ultimately finds its fulfillment in Jesus Christ. God reminds David where he came from, what He has done for him, and what He has promised to do. David's story reminds us that our circumstances, failures, and even seasons when we feel forgotten do not change the faithfulness of God. We also look honestly at David's failures, including his sin with Bathsheba, and wrestle with the question: How can someone who failed so badly still be called a man after God's own heart? The answer points us toward the grace of God and ultimately toward the cross. God's promise to David is partially fulfilled in Solomon, but the greater promise is fulfilled in Jesus—the righteous King whose throne endures forever. This study also challenges us to consider our own hearts: What do we do when we are passed over? How do we respond when someone else receives the opportunity, promotion, or ministry position we wanted? And where is God when life doesn't seem to make sense? The hope of the gospel is that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in us. If this study encourages you, consider subscribing and joining us as we continue studying Scripture together.
